In many regions, quotas fill in under 10 minutes.
The 8-Day Rule: Signed Contract of Stay
Within 8 days of entering Italy, you must go to the *Sportello Unico* with your employer to sign the official **Contratto di Soggiorno** (Contract of Stay). This is the legal foundation of your residency permit.
Can I work for a different employer once I arrive?
No, initially your permit is tied to the specific employer who won the quota slot. However, after your first year of residence, you can generally switch employers within the same industrial sector.
