Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my family on a seasonal permit?
No. Seasonal permits do not grant the right to family reunification. Spouses and children would need their own independent visas.
Does this count toward Permanent Residence?
No. Time spent in Norway on a seasonal permit is not 'qualifying residence' for Permanent Residence or citizenship.
Can I switch to a skilled worker permit while in Norway?
Generally, no. You must return to your home country and apply for a skilled worker permit from abroad unless you qualify for specific exemptions.
What happens if the harvest ends early?
Your permit is tied to your specific employer. If the work ends, your permit generally expires. You may switch to a new seasonal employer ONLY if the UDI approves the transfer.
Is there a quota for seasonal workers?
Yes. Norway sets an annual quota for seasonal workers (approx. 2,500-3,000 for agriculture). Peak seasons see these quotas fill quickly.
